BluetitforSNJjan2019copyrightPaulGreenIt’s a New Year and time for our annual Diary and Calendar Swap. If you have any unwanted 2019 diaries or calendars you can drop them off at our eco shop and if you need one you can collect one (and make a donation to our charity if you can).

If you’re looking for something new to start the New Year, we are actively seeking new outdoor volunteers for several new projects over the next two months. Some of our projects are about wildlife and conservation and others are about gardening and food growing. Our volunteers come from all walks of life with different interests, skills and abilities, if you are interested in joining one of our groups, please contact me to discuss your interests.

You could also take a look at the events we have planned for the next 3 months. You’ll find details on our website about a wide range of activities including Wassailing, Archaeology Walk in the Heavens, Observing Goshawks at Symonds Yat and Hedgelaying for Beginners

We always look forward to the Big Garden Bird Watch which is organised by the RSPB every year at the end of January. In its 40th year this year it takes place from the 26th to 28th January. You can sign up to take part on line at the RSPB website – then just find a good spot where you can sit for an hour and count the birds in your garden or green space. You are likely to see more in the morning but you can do it at anytime. Once you have identified and counted the birds you can send in your results on line. For people who do not have access to the internet we can provide ID and counting forms and if you bring in your results we can forward them to RSPB.
