Butterflies of Rodborough Common

Join Stroud Valleys Project for a spring walk on Rodborough Common, led by Jen Gilbert from Butterfly Conservation, to discover some of the Common’s rarest butterflies.

Rodborough Common in part owes it survival to its butterflies, whose presence prompted keen naturalist and lepidopterist, Thomas Bainbridge Fletcher to give the common to the National Trust in 1937.

Species such as the Duke of Burgundy make these rich and rare grasslands their home. Jen will share with you some of their eating and breeding habits as well as helping you to spot and identify different species

This event is a collaboration with the National Trust and Butterfly Conservation.
