'Eel Tales' - The story of a remarkable journey

THIS EVENT HAS NOW SOLD OUT

Join the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust’s Laura Weldon at Arundel Mill Pond near Stroud town centre for an insight into the amazing lifecycle of the eel. As well as sharing this fascinating story, Laura will guide you through an exercise to identify whether eels are present in the River Frome, using DNA testing!

Eels make a remarkable journey across the Atlantic from the Sargasso Sea in the Caribbean to Gloucestershire’s rivers in order to breed. This is a tough job for a very small eel, not helped by the many human barriers in their path. In fact, we have just finished installing a new fish race at our Arundel Mill Pond site to help with their migration.

Suitable for all the family, but all children must be accompanied by an adult

This event is being run in collaboration with the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust.
