Otters in the Stroud Valleys

  • Stroud Brewery and Taproom London Road Thrupp, Stroud, GL5 2BY United Kingdom (map)

This event is now no longer bookable online. We still have some spaces left so please feel free to turn up to Stroud Brewery Balcony Bar and pay on the door. We will be taking people in to seat 1:40pm

From persecuted top predator to tourist attraction… can Otters survive?

Join Stroud Valleys Project and local ecologist Simon Pickering as we take a closer look at our wild neighbours – the Otter.

Simon will discuss their ecology and behaviour. He will try to make sense of their long history of human persecution, both deliberate and accidental, and the eventual recovery of their population across England, before considering their future here along our canal and in the UK in general. We’ll also consider the question of whether restoration and subsequent use of our local waterways would be beneficial to our Otters.

Talk will be followed by a guided discussion.

This event is accessible to wheelchair users.

All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Tickets: £7.50 /adult; £4/child
