The very first person to become a Friend of SVP through our website is Wendy Fey – welcome, Wendy!

Wendy explains, “I’ve been aware of SVP for years, but understood it as somewhere to volunteer. Since I had no spare time for voluntary work, I thought it wasn't for me.

“It was a recent visit to the eco shop in Stroud that reminded me of it, and made me realise just how active SVP is, so I looked up the website, which really impressed me with the range of really excellent work being done. SVP is doing so much good work to enhance these precious valleys that I decided to join. If I can't volunteer (I still have no spare time!), at least my Friends subscription can contribute to the environment and community where I am lucky enough to live.

“The website itself is very easy to navigate, and clearly shows the range of activities and work being done, all of which is very impressive. All of the projects matter, and are important, but I am perhaps most aware of the work being done along the canal and at Capel's Mill as I remember it as an old rubbish dump and am so pleased to see how it is being regenerated.

“As a student, (with the University of Wales, Trinity St David), I’m engaged in research into biodynamics and am drawn to activities that care for the land. I'm not a biodynamic practitioner myself, but I am a keen gardener.”
