Charity Abseil Challenge: final total revealed!

Last month’s Charity Abseil Challenge saw around 60 brave souls leaping – or tentatively tiptoeing – from the top of Stroud’s famous Ecotricity building and abseiling to the bottom… and now the charities involved have revealed that the abseilers raised close to £14,000 through sponsorship and donations.

The event was supported by WSP Solicitors and Randall & Payne, with staff from both organisations and Ecotricity taking part. The abseil was run by Dave Talbot Adventure Events and the organising team and abseilers were blessed with beautiful weather.

Most of the abseilers were raising money for three local charities: Allsorts, The Door and Stroud Valleys Project, with the Nelson Trust also lending a hand on the day.

Rachael Fletcher of Allsorts says, “We raised an astonishing £13,600 for our charities, which will make a huge difference to the local people who rely on us.

“We’re hugely grateful to WSP, Randall & Payne, and Ecotricity – and of course to our daring abseilers!”

Anne Townsend of The Door says, “We had a brilliant range of people jumping, from young people in their teens, to our local curate in full vestments! Every penny raised will go towards supporting the work of The Door, including youth mentoring and parent support groups.”

Clare Mahdiyone of Stroud Valleys Project adds, “It was a really lovely day of coming together and supporting each other in a brilliant fundraising event. Thanks to Dave Talbot Adventure Events for organising the event.”
