Community event raises temperatures – and funds!

The Door, Allsorts and Stroud Valleys Project (SVP) joined forces with Stonehouse Court Hotel and Irwin Mitchell for the Stroud Fire Walk on Friday 29 September, with 27 people stepping out over blazing coals for the charities. With most of the funds now collected, Allsorts’ Rachael Fletcher has declared the combined figure to be £6,826, comprising £3,464 for Allsorts, £1,564 for The Door, and £1,798 for SVP.

Walkers ranged in age from a 14-year-old walker for The Door to 85-year-old Ruthie, who braved the heat for Stroud Valleys Project.

There was a fun quiz to occupy supporters, and Kate Easy of Irwin Mitchell staffed a lively Human Fruit Machine along with her two children, with prizes for everyone who had a go.

Walkers and their friends and family were entertained by the uplifting sounds of UkeStroud, and the main event was run by Blaze Firewalking, who have been running fire walking events since 1984.
